PBA 2022-23 WINTER LEAGUE TRYOUT INFORMATION

6TH – 8TH GRADE GIRLS & BOYS!

The Poolesville Basketball Association (PBA) will be conducting tryouts THIS WEEK (October 26/27) for the Girls and Boys teams it will field this winter in the competitive and highly regarded Mid-Maryland Jr. Basketball League. See below for league web sites.

ALL players are welcome---regardless of ability or experience!

NOTE: Tryouts will be held at the Poolesville Baptist Church.

Mid Maryland League play begins in late November and runs through early March, with practices starting the beginning of November. The PBA will be fielding 7th (JV) and 8th grade (Varsity) teams for both Boys and Girls. All players within the Poolesville school district, including those who attend private school, are welcome and encouraged to tryout.

Teams will practice at least twice a week (usually three times a week for JV and Varsity) starting in November and ending in early March. Practice times are TBD but will almost certainly be at least Mondays and Thursdays.

The 8th grade (Varsity) teams will be comprised of current 8th graders, plus 7th graders that possess the skills to play for the 8th grade team.

The 7th grade (JV) teams will be made up of current 7th graders, plus 5th and 6th graders that possess the skills to play for the 7th grade team.

The 6th grade boys and girls will tryout to play in the Rising Stars league.

VERY IMPORTANT: The Mid-Maryland Jr. Basketball League is considered to be a competitive league. We will be competing against teams throughout central Maryland that also conduct tryouts. Unlike Rec. basketball, there is no guarantee of playing time. Same for the Rising Star team.

All tryouts will be held at the Poolesville Baptist Church in Poolesville. If there is a large turnout, an additional tryout may be conducted. If a player cannot tryout on the appropriate night, the player must prearrange to tryout on the other night. Contact PBA President Shallon Hartke via email only to make those arrangements.

VERY IMPORTANT: A parent or guardian must attend the tryout with the player to complete sign up, but the tryout is closed to parents. A mandatory team program meeting will be held prior to the season start at the Poolesville Baptist Church for all players (and at least one parent or guardian) who are accepted into the PBA winter program. League fees and forms will be collected at that time.
